Gratitude For The Little Things
The wondrously selfish thing about being grateful is, it can bring in more abundance and joy to your own life. Once you find gratitude in all the little things, you attract and magnetize that goodness toward you! The more you look for, the more there is to be found.
You can also invert this, and when you live in the negative, and allow your oppressive thoughts to take over, you will spiral into attracting more of that to you.
This is where you have the power!
When you are able to say, “Thank you {insert higher power} for allowing me to wake up today!”, you can simply continue to build off of that! All you have to do is look around you and find the tiny items or moments, and allow yourself to be grateful for any and everything that you do have. From there, you will notice how abundant you truly are, spiralling into never-ending snippets of gratitude. And when you can acknowledge that in each day, you become more of it… it’s something to fall back on. The more you use it, the more powerful it gets!
It is a beautiful thing to have your own private gratitude practice. And I do wish our culture offered more opportunities for thankfulness. But honestly, that is something we can each learn to incorporate into our own social circles and families and homes. It always starts with us!
I truly do love Thanksgiving, though. It is so lovely to have a collective day of gratitude! No matter what you’re grateful for, we all are joined in this experience together, and it is a sacred moment that we should remember to value every year!
If you’re having trouble recognizing things to have appreciation for, here are some examples of little gratitudes you can steal from me:
~the birds and their songs, and how they grace us with their fluttering colors
~the squirrels, for their cute races with one another, and for all the trees they help to plant
~the sweet, soft moss along the soggy, fertile ground
~the seed pods spread amongst the earth floor, preparing for implantation for next season
~the little creatures hidden under the leaf litter, hibernating until the warmth returns to help with pollination, pest control, carbon sequestration, and yields
~the new rocks I find whenever I dig a hole to welcome a new plant into my yard
~the rain and snow that hydrates the tree roots through the season of quiet growth
~the bonfires, the hearth fires, and the cozy candles that light up the long, dark nights
~the family feasts to come within the holy days we celebrate together
~the creatures, human and otherwise, who I am blessed to consider my beloveds
~the stars that sparkle brighter across the crisp winter skies
~the winds that scatter the leaves and needles and seeds, to ignite the eternal clock of life
~the shelter and electricity that keeps me warm and safe through the harshest of weather, that most of my ancestors couldn’t have even dreamed of
~the vehicles that allow us to transport to our loved ones whenever we desire
~the sheer fact that I get to be alive in this most aware, most advanced, most opportune time amongst the continuum……
I try not to take any of these things for granted. And I relish in the opportunities to say Thank You, especially to Mother Earth, for she has allowed all of the things I am grateful for to even be possible!
Wherever you are, however you are giving thanks, I wish you a season of fruitful compassion, nourishment, and prosperity. May this holiday spark a continuation of love and abundance going forward.
Cheers! 🍂
